Modmia(مودميا)

Introduction

Modmia (مودميا) is a mobile application designed to manage SAM and Vortex MiFi/4G modem devices. The app provides firmware updates, WiFi settings management, speed control, and an optional credit system for payments. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Modmia offers two distinct user paths — one that requires no account and collects no personal information, and an optional account path for credit and payment features.

How We Handle Your Data

✦ PATH 1

Normal Users — No Account Required

Users connect to their MiFi modem's WiFi and log in with the modem admin password. They can access ALL core features without creating any account:

  • Modem status monitoring
  • WiFi settings management
  • Firmware updates
  • Speed control
  • Device management
No personal information is collected for normal users. The only data accessed is modem data (model, IMEI, serial number, firmware version, WiFi SSID, battery level, data usage, connected devices, MSISDN), which is read directly from your modem over local WiFi.

This modem data is NOT sent to our servers except for firmware update checks and payment status verification.

Optional Account Users — Store Owners / Resellers

Users who CHOOSE to create an account provide the following information:

  • Phone number
  • Name
  • Password (stored securely hashed)

This data is used for credit purchases, credit transfers, and payment management. Transaction history (purchases, transfers, payment references) is stored for account users.

Account creation is completely VOLUNTARY. You can use all core modem features without ever creating an account.

Additional Data Points

  • A UUID is generated locally on the device for session management.
  • App version is checked for updates.
  • Biometric/fingerprint login is optional and processed entirely on-device by Android OS — we NEVER receive or store biometric data.
This information is collected directly from your device and modem for app functionality and is not shared externally except for firmware update verification and payment status checks.

IMEI & MSISDN Disclosure

IMEI and modem phone number (MSISDN) are only read locally from the modem device to verify firmware update eligibility and payment status. They are never transmitted for advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking.

Security

  • All server communication uses HTTPS encryption.
  • API authentication is secured with HMAC-based signatures.
  • Modem credentials are stored locally on your device only and are never sent to our servers.

Third-Party Data Sharing

We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties. Data only flows between:

  • Your device ↔ Modem (local WiFi connection)
  • Your device ↔ Our server (HTTPS, only for account features and update/payment checks)

Your Rights

  • Use the app without creating an account for all core modem features.
  • Request account deletion by contacting us via email.
  • Update your personal information directly in the app.

Children's Privacy

Modmia is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
